Retail Sales Associate (Full Time & Part Time Openings)

The Job

 The role of Retail Firearms Sales Associate contributes to the success of Midwest Gun Exchange by maintaining a working knowledge of firearms, cutlery and accessories and using this knowledge create a professional and friendly customer experience while selling our products. The position helps to maintain the store visual standards and assists in keeping the floor stocked with merchandise. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Provide outstanding customer service.
  • Continually expand knowledge of products and services offered at Midwest Gun Exchange.
  • Help to maintain visual standards and cleanliness within the store.
  • Stock product from truck/warehouse to sales floor.
  • Communicate and cooperate with other staff and management team.

The Requirements
  • Previous retail sales and customer service experience preferred.
  • Basic math skills; addition and subtraction.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Meet availability requirements including nights and weekends.
  • Working knowledge of firearms preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Store Manager (Full Time Opening)

The Store Manager provides leadership and supervision in all aspects of managing the store.  The Store Manager creates a friendly and professional atmosphere for our customers while inspiring our staff to be their best, through leading by example with integrity and commitment.  Ensure the maintenance of a clean and organized store, anticipate the needs of our customers and provide exceptional customer service by focusing on the following: 

Essential Functions

  • Follow and implement all applicable company policies and procedures at all times.
  • Lead, coach and direct associates to ensure optimal store performance. Promote a positive team-based atmosphere and encourage and motivate associates to take pride in their work. 
  • Maintain the appearance of the store, inside and out, to company standards; design and maintain merchandise and product displays to maximize customer appeal. 
  • Maintain inventory levels through delegation, move freight to the floor and communicate inventory concerns or issues to appropriate leadership.
  • Responsible for preparing the work schedule to ensure proper staffing levels; assist with recruiting, interviewing and hiring.
  • Identify and address potential theft, safety or operational concerns with appropriate leadership.
  • Responsible for ongoing training and development of self and staff.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable State and Federal laws with all transactions.


  • Ambitious, goal oriented, self-motivated individual with strong work ethic.
  • Prior leadership experience in a team based environment. 
  • Open availability necessary for business needs, including nights and weekends.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related disciplines such as business, retail management, marketing, merchandising plus a minimum two years’ prior retail management experience OR equivalent education and experience In-depth knowledge and experience with a broad range of firearms, ammunition and accessories, and ability to remain current on product knowledge and industry trends and weekends.
  • Computer literacy required, Microsoft proficient.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push and pull a minimum of 25 pounds up to 75 pounds as needed. 
  • Frequently required to stand for long periods of time, bend, stoop and kneel.
  • Ability to travel, as required, for meetings or other special projects.
